Rental Extension Guidelines
What Is a Rental Extension?
A rental extension lets you keep the same car for extra days after your original end date. You request the number of days in the McRental app; the rental agency must approve the request before the new end date is applied.
When Can You Extend?
- You can request an extension after your rental has started, while the trip is still active.
- During the trip, McRental may send a reminder offering an extension if you need more time.
- After an extension is accepted, you can request another one later if you still need more days.
How to Apply for an Extension
- Open the McRental app and go to your active rental.
- Choose the option to request an extension and select how many extra days you need.
- Submit the request. The agency is notified right away.
- Wait for the agency to accept or decline. You will get a notification with the result.
How the Process Works
1. Request pending
Your request stays pending until the agency responds. The agency typically has up to 24 hours to accept or decline. If there is no response in time, the request may be rejected automatically so the booking is not left open forever.
2. Agency decision
- Accepted: Your rental end date is extended by the number of days you requested, and your booking details are updated.
- Declined: Your original end date stays the same. You can contact the agency or submit a new request with different dates if needed.
3. After an accepted extension
- The new end date becomes the official return time for your rental.
Extension Price
- The extension price is based on the car’s daily rate multiplied by the number of extra days. You can see the amount in the app when you request an extension, and again if the agency accepts.
- The extension price is paid when you return the car to the rental agency.
